Reader Settings

Reader settings let you make each document comfortable to read. Some settings apply to fixed-layout documents such as PDFs and comics. Other settings apply to EPUB books.

Opening Settings

Open Settings from the reader chrome or with your configured keyboard/controller mapping.

Use Back to leave Settings and return focus to the reader controls.

Theme

Themes change the reader background and UI colors.

Available themes:

  • Black
  • Dark
  • Light
  • Sepia

Dark or black themes are useful for TV and couch reading. Light and sepia themes can be more comfortable for book-style reading.

Layout

Layout controls how pages are arranged.

  • Single page: one page at a time.
  • Spread: two-page reading when space allows.
  • Stacked: pages arranged in a continuous strip.

Fit Mode

Fit mode controls how fixed-layout pages are sized.

  • Fit: show the whole page.
  • Fit width: fill the reader width.
  • Fit height: fill the reader height.
  • Free zoom: use manual zoom.

Margins

Margins add space around fixed-layout pages. Larger margins can make scanned pages feel less crowded, especially in fullscreen or on a TV.

Reading Direction

Reading direction controls page movement for documents that should be read left-to-right or right-to-left.

Use right-to-left for manga or documents designed for that reading order.

Page Turn Style

Page turn settings control how page changes feel.

  • Premium 3D: animated page turning.
  • Instant: immediate page changes.

Use instant if you prefer speed and simplicity.

EPUB Typography

For EPUB books, you can adjust:

  • Font family
  • Text scale
  • Line spacing
  • Margin level
  • Page layout

These settings help EPUB books feel more like a dedicated ebook reader.

Saving Preferences

LaunchBox Reader remembers your reading state and preferences so documents reopen the way you left them.
